About Me
I am working as a post-doctoral fellow with Prof. Edwin J C G van den Oord at VCU Center for Biomarker and Personalized medicine,
Richmond, Virginia, USA. Our lab is insterested in applying bioinformatics and statistical techniques to integrate genetic and genomics data for the understanding of psychiatric
disorders in human. I completed my Ph.D. from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, 2012.
My doctoral thesis research involves data mining approach to the study of subcellular localization, biological processes and molecular functions of
eukaryotic proteins using graph based network models. The network approach has then been applied to gene expression data from ovarian tumor samples,
integrated with Boolean functional attributes for the prognosis and therapy risk assessment.
I received master degree by research from NCBS-TIFR, Bangloare, India. During my master vocation I gained experience in protein sequence and structural analysis.
I am particularly interested in:
- Meta-analysis (statistical methods for combining results from various independent studies) and combining information from the multiple data-source to address biological problems.
- Understanding Human disease conditions by combining information from Genetics and Genomics.
- Bioinformatics tool development for modern genetic and genomic analysis.
Further information on my research can be found here.
